I received a very nice email from Maya telling me about some great craft projects she shows on her very nice blog Mayamade and I particularly liked this one where Maya was inspired by a vintage children's craft book ... it's a portable art studio made from a cardboard box ... just click here to see how it's done ... enjoy and thanks Maya!

B:Kids Book Review #7 by Lorena Siminovich

Preparing a post like this makes me really happy, because one of my favorite designers and illustrators is going to be a regular guest on B:Kids reviewing some great books for us ... please welcome Lorena Siminovich, who was born in Buenos Aires, but is a San Francisco based artist and illustrator ... Lorena illustrated several children's books published by Templar UK, Chronicle books and Candlewick, three of her books will be out in 2009!!, but you probably know her from her beautiful label: Petit Collage ... a line of modern walll decor Siminovich and accessories for children ... have a look here...

Today Lorena tells us a bit more about a book that is on my wishlist for a long time and after reading her review I have decided to buy it right away ... please click here for Lorena's book-review from 'When You were small' by Sara O'Leary...

The Red Thread ... Lisa Tilse is an artist/designer based in Sydney, Australia. Everything she sells is individually handmade by her, and is part of a limited edition or, more commonly, a one-off piece ... i really like the Vintage Storybook Tiles, where layers of paint are applied to MDF ‘canvases’ and a collage of vintage illustrations and storybook words is created ... the Vibrant graphic birds are cut from Japanese papers and the white line work illustrations are hand painted on solid natural timber finished in a semi-gloss varnish ... all very beautiful for wall decoration!
