A couple of weeks ago my dear friend Jo from Charlie and Lewis brought me to a small atelier/studio here in KL run by the very friendly Nina, not only makes Nina very nice garments for other brands she also has a great baby label herself called JonasJodie ... specializing in very soft sleepingsacks, swaddles and bumpers for the crib ... they are extremely reasonable priced and the quality is just superb, I know from my own experience with little Kiet (who is doing wonderful I can tell you and swaddling him at night makes all the difference!) a super lovely new spring and summer collection from BabyBean vintage daywear ... again Christine used the most wonderful fabrics for her designs ... and as always the new collection is crafted from and inspired by vintage fabrics ... in 2004 Baby Bean Vintage Daywear was created by Christine Visneau and she based in Dallas, Texas ... all designs are made locally by Christine and a few stay at home moms... love this concept.

Aren't these 'sweet-meats' not fantastic looking? I found them via Misha-Lulu's blog and was immediately in love, not that i'm such a meat-eater, but I just love how these soft toys look ... Sweet Meats are the brainchild of Lauren Venell (nee Fleischer), a San Francisco product designer with butchers on both sides of her family. She originally constructed the first “Hambone” as a personal art project, but commissions for the plush hams became so popular she decided to bring Sweet Meats to the masses...

Nora just told me about a wonderful and generous sale over at her beautiful shop, Chittypulga, the "star" of the sale has been the clothing department ... savings are huge 25 to 50% off on every single item ... I also loved the sale on these traditional party games, 'pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey-game' and 'the-birthday-party-game' ... they really remind me of my own birthday parties...

Dear all, thank you so much for your sweet comments, kind emails and gifts you have sent to me and our precious little boy,  Kiet! You probably can imagine that I feel so lucky, blessed and happy with the arrival of Kiet...it is funny... I now even have stronger feelings for my eldest, Lode, which I didn't think was possible ... so this week I will be enjoying all the time I have with my two sons, husband and mom ... but not to worry... I did prepare some posts just the day before I went to the hospital, which I will share with you this week ... but please understand that it might take me a bit of time before I respond to the many unopened emails in a my inbox...sorry...see you soon!

Newborn...

Dear All... just a quick note by Rik... Irene's husband...very happy and excited to let you know that Irene gave birth to our new son on Thursday... we call him"Kiet" which is an old Dutch name and  also a name you would find in some parts of Asia... both mom and Kiet are doing great but have to stay in the hospital for a few days as Kiet arrived a few weeks prematurely... Kiet managed to wrap the umbilical cord around his little neck five times (!) so he needed some help to get untangled... which meant a C-section...our obestrictrician did a great job in liberating Kiet form his awkward position... very proud of Irene of course who is already breastfeeding the little one and not getting very much sleep... she wants you to know that she will be back on-line when she gets home next week to show some beatiful pics of mom and baby... have a good weekend...

Jo England is my dear friend here in Kuala Lumpur and she is such a talented women, who's company always inspires me to do something myself ... with a background as an art director and being a mom herself she decided to write a book for parents and their children and spending quality time together with non-expensive activities, the book is called 'Happy Times Together' and available right here ... recently Jo has started creating some beautiful 'kids decoration flags' and I know how beautifully they are made ... two other items in her shop that are just perfect for children are the 'personalized name - towels' and the 'fun apple slinky' ... you can read all the information in her shop called Charlie and Lewis ...

I received a very lovely email from the daughter (Nina) of the famous German textile designer Graziela Preiser informing me about the relaunch of one of her mom's famous patterns, the legendary 1,2,3 design from the 70's, used for a set of bed linen for children. I think this is only the start and hopefully more of the beautiful patterns will be used again for modern children's' accessories. You can also find a whole design archive of designs from the 1970's on their website ... AND I have invited Nina to be a guest for a Open House Tour and she already sent me great images of her fantastic loft ... we're working on the q&a's as we speak so soon you will find Nina and her lovely house here on B:Kids again.

tipitipi ... another fantastic label from South-Europe which I recently was introduced too... Victoria López-Campos from tipitipi sent me a link to their gorgeous website and the images of their baby onesies and birbs jut look so beautiful, they are all made in Portugal with a 100% premium cotton quality ... very sweet and very very soft and you  can buy directly from the website, have fun ... and wish you a happy weekend, hope to see you back on Monday!

I ordered this little friend this morning for my soon to be expected baby ... I'm sure he or she will love it! Alice Burrows uses and adapts 60s and 70s sewing patterns to make toys in vintage and retro fabrics like these fantastic dachhunds.

A little while ago I wrote about the new lace wallpaper from Studio Ditte from the Netherlands, but I forgot to show their other new project called, Recycle Recycle ... a project with a double dose of reuse ... second hand furniture is furnished with scrap wood wallpaper, also from Studio Ditte ... I think it looks really nice, especially when the surroundings in your child's room will be mainly white ... and I love it when furniture is getting a new life! The furniture also reminds me of course about the gorgeous furniture by Piet Hein Eek, but I don't mind when a good idea is being used for other purposes and designs as well.
