#432 Pistachiopress meets mummysam

More letterpress to start this week with...a beautiful collaboration between a small-town US girl named Rachael Hetzel from Pistachio Press  and an English country girl named Samantha Cotterill aka mummysam. The fun illustrations by mummysam were letterpress printed on white 100% cotton paper, I really like them a lot!

Already a while ago the lovely Noelle send me one of her super light weight and handy diaper-bags. Noelle is from the Netherlands and she is the designer and founder behind Minimice ... such a clever idea to make these ultra light weight small bags that are big enough for a clean diaper, some tissues and a new set of clothes. Ever since I received the lovely gift it travels with me everywhere I go. Sometimes Lode even reminds me to bring it when I change handbags...the diaper-bags are available in all sorts of different fresh color-combinations...

Patricia and Ifke from the Netherlands are the founders of the children's furniture company STEK....cool, solid and funky looking furniture for our children...together with the help of two experienced carpenters all pieces are made in small batches ... if I would be living in the Netherlands at the moment I would giveaway our IKEA children's set and immediately buy some of the pieces from the STEK collection. From what I understand from their website that everybody who lives in Europe can order online, but I think for more order-information it would be best to send either Ifke or Patricia an email.

Perhaps you remember this post about the gorgeous handmade toys by artist Joel Henriques? It's such a pleasure for me to show you the First Daddy Story here on B:Kids (hopefully not our last) ... Joel is a stay-at-home dad who is constantly creating amazing toys and doing fantastic craft projects with his 3-year old twins. On his blog you can find some of the projects I really like .. for instance the Zoo blanket, the Trumpet and how to use vintage buttons in a creative way...

SHALL WE HELP

Dear all...it was a strange week last week, my internet connection was down, my parents are visiting, so I wasn't able to post anything on Thursday or Friday...Sorry! But this is such a minor problem compared to the awful images that keep popping up in my head from Haiti...

On the Oprah blog I ready very interesting article by DNA about Haiti. And of course I visited Amanda's 'mama to mama' page to see if she had any updates on Haiti as she organized this amazing craftivism project centered around Haiti last year. Her project was coordinated with the wonderful people from Konbit Sante.

This place is a dream of mine...moomah...a creative 'playscape', such a nice word. One day I hope to open up a shop/studio/gallery/cafe like this somewhere in the world too. Can you believe that only a couple of years ago I lived in the same street, wonderful to see how Tribecca has developed in such a short time...I LOVE you New Yorkers! You are always ahead of the game...
