Sjoe Sjoe visited De Kleine Fabriek

b>tags | ..inspiration

A Special Guest Post today by Joelle Wehkamp from Sjoe Sjoe. Every week Joelle writes a guest post for Bloesem, but this week's post is more appropriate for BKids...Joelle visited the Dutch trade-show De Kleine Fabriek last week and shares with us her finds...

Dekleinefabriek

Twice a year the international children's trade fair Kleine Fabriek comes to Amsterdam. A mix of international brands and young designer labels present a high-quality selection. I visited the fair today. Always nice to be on this fair for a while. There are so many nice little brands!

Chacha

For example Chacha. Chacha offers a range of gifts for children like small toys, stationary and candy. You can find the perfect gift for celebrations and birthdays. They develop ranges of stationary with different contemporary illustrators. All lovely and special… Lily Scratchy, Tinou le Joly Senoville, Audrey Jeanne and Alain Gree.

Chacha2

On Saison you can find all the Chacha brand ‘ products, Alain Gree’ collection, there creators selection and some exclusives…

Rielarsen

I discovered a great Danish brand on the fair: Rie Elise Larsen. Her style looks fresh, rustic and refined. If you are interested in gorgeous paper goods – kitchen goods, accessories or home products their site is a must see for you! I really want to buy everything.

Ijm-1

And for now, last but not least, the surprising stand of Ijm. Ijm is a creative collective producing magazine stories, books, food, and retail concepts, based in Amsterdam. They create visual stories. Stories that add a specific flavor to the products that a brand or company wants to sell.

Ijm-2

Here some examples of different productions. Like their style a lot! Everything they make is special, creative and unique in color-use.

I really can recommend the Kleine Fabriek fair. It is a good mix between little unknown brands and big ones, dutch and abroad. Hip and inspirational!

#489 Sweet William...

Sweetwilliam
Via the Brooklyn based online shop, Sweet William, I have discovered some amazing brands that I perhaps have seen before online but never had the chance to really share with you...it's about time you perhaps think :) Gorgeous pillows by Coral and Tusk, the very hungry whale and the owl in the tree.

Sweetwilliam2

And these quirky and soft “mushroom people” by h-luv. They are just super and will look nice in every kids room, baby, boy or girl! Please don't think you can only buy pillows and soft dolls at Sweet William, no onthe contrary they also offer great clothes, shoes and furniture, these were just some of my favorites :)

It's been a crazy week for me with a stressful beginning and a wonderful ending :) ...it all started with the strange copy-cat story, thanks for all your lovely support, preparations and packing for our trip to the Netherlands, a 12 hour flight and the arrival in my home country... the trip went fantastic, my boys were the best, they slept long hours and made it easy for me...arriving here in the Netherlands with degrees above 25 Celsius was of course splendid, I hadn't been here for more than 2 years and the contrast with Malaysia is just enormous, but I love both. Lode is completely surprised with seeing so many dogs on a leash and the fact that everybody is biking :)

I'm terribly sorry if you missed me this week and expected my regular posts, please believe that my intentions were there but it was just impossible to find time to sit behind the computer. Next week a beautiful week here on BKids with a Mom Story, new finds, a great win on wednesday a special what to wear and more... xoxo irene

#488 StickyTiki

Stickytiki

Perhaps you remember this giveaway...Babushkas wall stickers offered by Lola and Ben, the designer and creator of these beautiful handmade wall decalls is Kim from StickyTiki, a small wall art company based in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Perhaps you would like to know that they not only have Babushkas in their collection but also a fantastic Alphabet! How cool and artsy is it to let your children decorate their own wall with hand painted letter... they might even learn a thing or two :)

Someone Copied BloesemKids ....nonononooooooo

Bloesemkidsnl
Dear All:

I am sorry to start the week on a slightly negative note… copycats are always on the prowl it seems… and I have recently learned about one that really makes my skin crawl…I normally tend to shrug my shoulders about these silly attempts from misguided people that abuse the hard work and intellectual property of others…but now I am actually very upset…

Anke of the Netherlands is trying to start an on-line shop called “Bloesem Kids”… leaving not much to the imagination… to make things worse… she also did not bother to come up with an original design…
 Bloesemkids
Anke decided it would be best to browse through the various Bloesem Kids designs that entered the BKids design contest last year… and seemed to have simply cherry picked from the various entries and applied a few tweaks… and ‘voila’… or perhaps I should say she ‘found inspiration’…(just discovered that she took off the banner)

Bloesemkidstweets

The confusion started when a friend of mine discovered this twitter name: bloesemkidsnl and asked me whether this name was part of my twittername: bloesemkids : No of course not... I can't tell you how amazed, shocked and unhappily surprised I was... why why why would anyone do this??

Anke: you’re right… many things on the internet are for free and available to all of us to enjoy and marvel at the beautiful work of so many talented artists… but it seems you do not have the faintest idea what our blogging community is about… it all starts with respect for the hard work all of us put into our blogs, on-line stores and designs, seven days a week, 24 hours a day, for many years… we support each other in new ventures, share ideas and have built a great and strong network around the world of crafters, readers, on-line shop owners, sponsors and bloggers…. we collaborate and inspire each other… and we certainly don’t rip off each other’s ideas and designs…  I trust you do the right thing and change the name and design of your blog… and now I’ve said my piece: …otherwise I wish you all the best in your endeavors… I know from experience how hard it is to start your own business…

#486 chalk

Chalk

Chalk is one of those beautiful brands that only uses a small variety of fabrics and colors but truly knows how to bring a unique diverse and special collection. It's all about quality, Britishness and flair at Chalk. I really like the Fold blouse and Pleat pinafore. The girl in the top images is wearing the gorgeous Bowes dress, she looks like a very classy princess! Chalk only started recently but I'm convinced they are here to stay :) good luck!!
