I absolutely love Valentine's Day, I think because of my tendencies to be cynical about anything too commercialized, this really surprises those that know me. I love the pink and reds, and even the tackiness that comes from this day of love. My love for Valentine's Day was born out of my love for my mother and the way she made this day special. To her it was a day to tell my brother and I how much she loved us. She would leave cards for us, candy, and at our school there was this flower program for Valentine's Day where you could send your friend's carnations - she always sent us some. It always made me feel so important, so loved to see her make that extra effort for a day that is usually reserved for couples.
