A happy, festive and colorful book for you to start the weekend with. Yes it is written in a language you probably can't read... I can't either because it is Norwegian, but I do like sharing it here with you on BKids becasue I like how this creative family has gathered their favorite activities from planting herbs to decorating candy cakes and shares them with us in small DIY projects.
Needless to say that the images and design of the book are very inviting...
And if you think you have seen this family before... very well possible they also have a blog called familiesirkus right here ...

I love how Mari Kanstad Johnsen illustrated the children's book VIVALDI. I am an avid children's literature collector, and the illustrations are as important to me as the story. So often you'll find a lovely story, but poor illustrations or vice-versa, that really ruins the story. I've had dreams of being a children's book author since I was in middle school, but I don't know if that day will ever come for me, so getting to read and see books like VIVALDI brings me great joy.

VIVALDI is a story written by Helge Torvund about a little girl named Tyra, who does not like school - so she has stopped talking there. The other kids bullying her, and make her feel very small. Tyra isn't this way at home though, she is happy at home and one day she gets a kitten. Something begins to change in Tyra's life after she gets that little kitten, she begins to feel confident about facing her troubles, because she is no longer facing them alone. You can purchase VIVALDI here. - Tiffany King

Yes it is here ... Susan Schwake's new book, Art Lab for Kids. A must-have for all parents who would like some guidelines in how to teach your children making art. Susan has been an art teacher for kids herself during the last 20 years. With the help of her husband, Rainer Schwake who is a photographer, Susan has written down many of her lessons in easy steps. The lessons are wonderful projects for all ages... even for yourself perhaps :)

Two things I really loved in this book are the little write-ups after almost each topic called 'Meet the Artist'. Here an artist is highlighted who is known for the specific kind of art-making from that specific lesson...
And I loved the fact that I am being introduced to so many different styles of painting, drawing and illustrating... perhaps the Scribble Drawings from Lab 3 is my favorite. <Read and See More>

A bit lost by Chris Haughton ... "Don't worry, little friend. I'll find your mummy. What does she look like?"... a friendly but no so smart squirrel offers baby owl some help to find Mummy owl after he had fallen out of the nest... every page comes with a funny surprise. It is a short but happy and funny story and I noticed my boys were both responding to each page with different comments. And if that happens I know we all are going to love the book for a long time. So much room for imagination in this book.
The illustrations and colors are so beautiful that I wish I could hang them as prints. Most important Lode LOVED it, he was laughing and touched by the little owl. This is book is an absolute winner in every way... young and old will be happy reading and looking. >>> Read More
