Along with a fresh new look for Bloesem, we also have new kids on the block - Studio Roof! (Formally known as Kids on Roof), along with many other new designers to have a look at.
The feature wall has a fresh coat of nudey pink paint as well as a newly installed shelving system, making it a whole lot easier to display all the new and existing items in the store. We've added more pieces to the kids wear collection too.
Continue on for what's new in the Bloesem store - kids edition!

Here's something different, instead of an instagram mom we found the wonderful world of Sketch Inc. kokeshi dolls. The most colorful, whimsical and fun instagram I've seen in awhile and the website has even more. Becky paints characters and creates patterns and all that good stuff that we love. My favorite has got to be the Frida Kahlo little Sketchinc Kokeshi!

A few months ago while I was looking around pinterest I chanced upon Flatout Frankie and their amazing eco-friendly cardboard creations. What a great idea! I love how it's such a good way to have fun with cardboard (remember getting overly excited when my parents bought huge appliances that came in big cardboard boxes) and let the children's imagine run wild. With children quickly becoming hooked on games on the computer and the ipad, flatout frankie is a brilliant way to disconnect but still have an awesome time. Whether it is customizing a cardboard dino head or playing with the little cook oven (that was my favorite as a child), I am sure your child will have hours of fun playing by themselves or with friends and siblings.

Let me tell you about the pool of very talented design students here in Singapore! Just recently I met Zara who now helps me with the Bloesem blogs for a couple of hours per day ... today her first post about prints and patterns is live on BLiving.
Zara recently graduated from NUS, Division of Industrial Design and she told me about PLAY.
Over a course of 11 weeks fellow students of Zara explored the act of play and meaningfully introduced play into a series of various contexts. Each project, not mere toys, is an investigation into designs that bring out refreshing play experiences. The students were led by Clement Zheng and Studio Juju.
Minimals in the image above is a family of animals reduced to their most identifiable characteristics captured in a 5 x 5 x 5 cm wooden cubes. Potato Play hopes to bring back our mischievousness of playing with food back in the days when we were children.
Luma is a series of toy vehicles that shine and leaving glowing trails in the dark.
Doors: Inspired by "A Door to Another World", DOORS is designed to evoke the imagery of various animal dwellings and how a wonderland may exists behind these dwellings.
Up in the air is about visual playfulness through stacking bold shapes and colors to create various seating and table heights.
Zig Zig is a children's tee shirt that magically transforms into imaginative landscapes.
Hidie Hut ... "Walking into a life-size story..." This is what HIDIE HUT wants children to experience.
Water drums is a drum set that floats on water.
Pop Up is a life-sized pop-up book for children. By a simple flip, a flat space instantly transformed into a colourful landscape of geometric shapes and interesting forms.
Rock & Roll explores play in the form of motion. It mimics movements that children are familiar with, creating an avenue of play for them.
None of the above products are ready for sale yet ... they are all prototypes. But would you be interested in working with one of the designers or offer them a hand in producing one of the above gorgeous designs please DO ! You can find the correct email addresses on the webpages by following the links i have given in this post.
Cheers and well done Singapore Talents!

I just love things wood ... when Sarah & Bendrix decided to add these gorgeous wooden pieces to their collection I was delighted they did because they compliment the already beautiful prints in the best way possible.
Sarah & Bendrix is a small design studio based in Surrey, United Kingdom founded in 2009 by Veronika. If you are planning a wedding or anniversary I would make a stop here ... perfect framed posters but also letterpress is what this design studio offers!
