Doodlers Anonymous

It's been almost exactly 1 full year since we first talked about Fish Indie on BKids.. Since then, we've always been awed by their constant support of independent designers and makers to help them showcase their work, as makers ourselves, we are all for supporting creatives and of course remember to shop small this present buying season!

For Christmas this year, we thought we'd share a little something from them that we think will make an amazing gift for your kids (or even the big kids, let's be real!). Doodlers Anonymous, a sister site of Fish indie and another great platform for artists to come together and celebrates spontaneous art, released their first book, Doodlers Anonymous Epic Coloring Book. Definitely not your run of the mill colouring book.. It's a massive compilation of the illustrations of 90 different global contemporary artists, each with their own distinct styles featuring all sorts of objects and ideas to be filled in as creatively as they can. Truly epic!

What a great way for the little ones to spend these rainy afternoons working their creative juices.. the illustrations are way too beautiful to pass up! We wanted to capture the beauty before we dive in with a rainbow of colours..

With everything designed, sourced and made in America, Claudia's label, City Kid Style, wants to make clothing that your cool kid will want to spend his or her days in. She started out making everything by hand but as the orders started coming in, she turned to other makers in her area to help continue creating pieces for her line. If you love supporting labels with heart and soul, you can find something made with love for your child whether it's from the seasonal City Kid Style collections or a limited edition piece.

In preparation for going back to school, we've got school supplies on our minds. Other than the usuals, we thought something that can be a lot of fun but at the same time very functional - labels! Things can get a little crazy when we bust out the labels, but you can't blame anyone for the pure joy labels bring.. and if you see how many types of labels are available you are going to flip, from stick ons to wall art. Bright Star Kids has a label for every item in your home, even for the insoles of shoes (never mistake someone else's shoes for yours again!).. but let's keep focused.. it's time to get school ready with some name labels!

Little Lost Owl

Our friends over at Grasshopper store know what's what when it comes to fun and imaginative toys for kids. These are the years when toys are part of the learning process.. we remember playing with Paper dolls too and of course pretend tea parties were the most fun with tableware and even some play food.. but the pride and joy of the store has got to be their impressive book collection! (We are in awe of the illustrations and colours in Little Lost Owl.)

When we think of sentimental and customised gifts, the first thing that pops into our minds are these precious ornaments by Paloma's nest. Sometimes thinking of what to get someone can be tough but when you present them with some personal and specifically made for him or her, we are sure they will appreciate it, why wouldn't they! Only few stores manage to seamlessly blend shopping for both mommy and child.. and one of them is Sarah and Bendrix, the beautiful online store with it's white and gold theme has made every item in their collection precious and brimming with a story to be told. The memory box is one of those stories just waiting to be told.. a great gift that would go with something for mom or for baby! 

Overall a simply gorgeous site to gift shop at.. and we've got our eye on the jewellery section too. Who says mommy can't add a little something for herself to cart as well..
